  • What is Noun?
    Noun is a mobile application that connects you to people and businesses in your area, based on your specified radius selection. As you come in and out of a specified radius, your feed updates with new content. We’re building a platform to allow you to discover everything around you as it happens. We imagine a world more connected and delivered to you in the palm of your hand.
  • Why did we make it?
    Noun offers social media functionality that allows people and businesses to connect with each other. Our purpose is to centralize people and location-based services in one single, user-friendly app. Noun enables you to engage with your community in new and powerful ways.
  • How much does your app cost?
    $0.00 - available for free in the App Store.
  • Where does the name come from?
    We are trying to solve the problem of helping people communicate with each other, businesses, and in the future, things around them. What better name to call ourselves than Noun?
  • Who are your investors?
    We are self-funded and do not have any investors.
  • How will you make money?
    We believe our core product will always be free. There will be opportunities for users to buy extra add-ons to connect to Noun. Our users' data, usage habits, etc. will never be a source of revenue for us.
  • Why are some usernames reserved?
    We set aside popular Facebook, Instagram and Twitter usernames to prevent impersonation. If you own a reserved username on one of the aforementioned services, then feel free to contact us at support@noun.com, and we will gladly assist you in claiming the username.
  • How does privacy work?
    We use the follower model that allows you to have a public or private profile. If you decide to have a public profile, then all users can message your or see your posts in their feed without following you. If you have a private profile, then you will need to accept their request before they can message you or see your posts.
  • Is my location shared with other users?
    Noun respects your privacy and will never share your location against your will. For the most part, when creating a post, you should add a location. This helps users discover your post. You also have the option of enabling your post to follow you as you move around. Depending on your account privacy settings and post privacy settings, others may see your location.
  • Will Noun share my personal data with a third party?
    Noun will never share your personal or anonymous data with a third party. We do not use third party services to collect or analyze how our users interact with Noun.
  • How can I report a user?
    If you come across a user who is violating our Terms of Use, please tap on the three-dots button under their profile picture and tap “Report User.” We will look into the issue as soon as we can.
  • How do I block a user?
    Go to the user you would like to block and tap on the three-dots button under their profile picture. Tap on “Block User” and they will no longer be able to find your posts or message you.
  • Who can see my posts?
    There are two parts to who can see your post. The first part is your profile visibility. If you have a public post, then anyone using Noun can see your posts. If you have a private profile then only those you accept as a follower can see your posts. The second is the location you set when creating a post. For example, if you set the location as Empire State Building with a 1-mile radius, then only people within 1 mile of Empire State Building will see your post. If they are in a different area, then they will not see your post even if they are following you.
  • Do I need an account to use Noun?
    You can open the app on your iPhone and see all of the publicly shared posts around you without an account. However, if you would like to create a post, follow a user, comment on a post or message a user, then you will need to sign up for an account.
  • When are you going to make the app for Android?
    We will consider making an Android app once the iPhone experience is solid. This will allow us to take everything we learned and apply it to other platforms.
  • What versions of the iPhone are you compatible with?
    Noun currently supports iPhone’s with iOS 9.0 and above.
  • When will you have an iPad version?
    We will consider adding an iPad version once the iPhone experience is solid.
  • Is there an API or developer program?
    We do not currently have a public API. We do understand that making an API available can help expand Noun by allowing different products, services, etc. integrate with our platform. But at this time, we do not have any plans for it.
